Our Y Stories

We are delighted to announce the release of the third installment in our six-part video series celebrating the rich history of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. This episode is particularly special as it delves into our Y's unwavering commitment to tackling social issues in our community, a mission made possible by the extraordinary support and dedication of each one of you.

The Y has excellent part-time, flexible positions in our School Age Child Care, Lifeguard and Swim Instructor programs available right now. (Training is available for those interested in becoming a lifeguard or swimming instructor.) Y employees receive a complimentary membership, discounts on Y classes and programs and child care.

According to a study conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics, approximately 15.3 million children in the United States, or one in five, are unable to access the basic school supplies necessary for their academic activities. This challenge is even more pronounced among children from low-income families, with nearly 25.4% facing these shortages.

We are thrilled to spotlight our valued partner, Audacy, for their incredible support and dedication to our community. This July, Audacy provided additional promotional support, helping us collect hundreds of donated school supplies for children in need in our area.

As summer winds down, we start to think about our new academic year schedules. In addition to taking care of those around you, may we suggest you take some time for yourself?

We are proud of the more than 100 kids who participated in last month's We Run This City program. The We Run This City (WRTC) Youth Marathon Program is a collaboration between the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Cleveland Marathon.
