Early Learning and Enrichment Program

The YMCA of Greater Cleveland offers one of the region's most comprehensive early childhood care programs. Focused on creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment, these programs serve children from 18 months to 5 years of age. The curriculum emphasizes school readiness and is aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning and Development Standards.

At the heart of the program is a focus on holistic child development. The YMCA recognizes the importance of fostering growth in intellectual, physical, and social-emotional areas, helping children thrive at every stage of development. Through a mix of structured activities and play-based learning, children are encouraged to explore their surroundings, develop their motor skills, and learn the foundational skills for future academic success.

Toddler Care

For ages 18 to 36 months, the toddler care program provides a safe and stimulating environment for young learners. Toddlers are naturally curious and eager to explore the world around them, and the YMCA’s program caters to this sense of discovery. The curriculum focuses on age-appropriate activities that nurture intellectual, physical, and language development while fostering social-emotional skills, critical for healthy early development.

Preschool

Aimed at children ages 3 to 5, the preschool program is designed to help children transition smoothly into kindergarten. By using a curriculum that focuses on early literacy, math, science, and social skills, the YMCA ensures that children build a strong foundation. Activities are hands-on and interactive, allowing children to develop independence, creativity, and confidence in a supportive and caring environment.

The YMCA understands the importance of parent involvement, offering regular communication and updates on children’s progress. Parents are also encouraged to engage in their children’s education, helping reinforce the skills learned at the YMCA.

Health and Safety

The program places a strong emphasis on health and safety, with stringent cleanliness protocols and attentive care from qualified staff. Each caregiver is trained in early childhood education and CPR, ensuring a safe and nurturing space for children to grow.

By fostering a strong partnership with parents and delivering high-quality care, the YMCA Early Learning and Enrichment programs help children gain essential life skills that will serve them as they enter school and beyond.
