Geauga YMCA staff gives out fruit cups to the community in need

In August, when a major storm swept through our region, leaving thousands without power for up to a week, the YMCA of Greater Cleveland was ready to support our community in a time of need.

Our branches opened their doors to provide a much-needed refuge from the sweltering heat. Members and non-members alike were welcome to cool off and recharge their devices. We offered complimentary water bottles, fruit juice boxes, and fresh fruit to help keep everyone refreshed and energized.

It was truly heartwarming to witness the community come together in our branches. Families enjoyed playing basketball on our courts, and the shared camaraderie brought a sense of relief and comfort during a challenging time. The Y’s facilities provided more than just a place to stay cool—they became a hub of connection and support.

Thank you for being part of the Y community. Your support and engagement help us to continue making a positive impact every day.
