For parents, kids’ safety is a primary concern. With summer fast approaching, the YMCA of Greater Cleveland is helping parents put their minds at ease when it comes to water safety with YMCA Splash, a free swimming and water safety course, May 30, 31 and June 1.
YMCA Splash provides water safety and basic swim skills to those with little or no swim experience. It is designed to help kids aged 5-12 learn to enjoy water, overcome fears and learn to be safe this summer.
The three-day course teaches basic swimming skills and rescue techniques as well as pool, beach, waterpark, diving and boating safety. Each lesson also includes elements emphasizing the YMCA’s four core values of honesty, responsibility, caring and respect. A free family swim will take place after each class and informational handouts will be available for parents.
YMCA Splash will take place at 9 YMCA of Greater Cleveland branches. Class times vary per location. The program is free and open to children ages 5-12.
Pre-registration is required. Download registration form here or call your nearest YMCA branch to register. Space is limited and all registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
