Southeast Family Branch

As of January 27, 2014, the Southeast Family YMCA is closed.

In 2013 we consolidated many of the programs that were offered at the Southeast Family YMCA in Bedford, and relocated them to the new Warrensville Heights Family YMCA, which opened to great fanfare in June 2012.  At that time we also moved all Southeast memberships to the Warrensville Heights branch.

We honor and respect the vibrancy of the Bedford community and do not want to lose that as a part of our YMCA of Greater Cleveland family.  However, several months later, we realize that the time has come to make a difficult – albeit financially prudent decision -- with regard to the future of the Southeast Family YMCA, located at 460 Northfield Road.  Therefore, the decision has been made to close the Southeast branch effective January 27, 2014.

We believe we can continue to serve the needs of those who patronized the Southeast Family YMCA through the Warrensville Heights Family YMCA in a highly effective manner.  As you might imagine, this is not an easy decision to make, nor is it one that we take lightly. But the reality is that we must continue to act as good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.  With that being said, our intention is to reallocate the resources used to operate the Southeast Family YMCA to continue to serve the needs of the Bedford community in the best possible way.

In terms of child care, we will be unable to accommodate Fun Days scheduled for the remainder of the year. We are currently working with other organizations within the Bedford community to identify a new location to house our summer camp program.  School year before/after school child care centers will be unaffected by the closing.

Bedford residents will still be able to take full advantage of YMCA programs and services as members of the Warrensville Heights Family YMCA, at 4433 Northfield Road.  Decisions like this one are never easy to make.  But ultimately we must do the best we can with the resources we have available, and still strive to support our organizational cause of being for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
